Branden J. Stanley is a filmmaker, photographer, and creative director whose work blends precision with purpose. An Indiana native and Chicago transplant, Branden has spent his career capturing stories that unite beauty, faith, and humanity. As the longest-running team member at Spirit Juice Studios, he has spent over a decade helping shape the company’s creative vision and growth, guiding a team of more than twenty-five artists, producers, and filmmakers while producing, directing, and filming many of Spirit Juice’s most pivotal pieces. His fingerprints can be found not just on the screen, but in the culture and craft that have defined the studio’s reputation for beauty, excellence, and faith-driven storytelling.

Beyond his production work, Branden has become a recognizable voice in Catholic creative circles, and a thought leader in Catholic cinema, speaking at Regional March for Life rallies, Theology on Tap events, and other national gatherings. His passion for communicating truth through beauty has earned him numerous awards for dedication to the Church and pro-life causes, along with more than a dozen Regional Emmy Awards and three Gabriel Awards for excellence in media.

Branden’s lifelong fascination with the analog world led him to create That Vintage Lens, a personal platform devoted to rediscovering craft, patience, and presence through film photography, vintage cameras, and the slow art of seeing. Where Spirit Juice speaks to the collective mission, That Vintage Lens reflects the quiet pursuit—the love of texture, imperfection, and tangible memory.

Through his boutique brand Cairnlight Co., Branden channels his personal filmmaking into stories of wilderness, wonder, and grace, combining off-grid exploration, cinematic storytelling, and a contemplative spirit to celebrate faith and the natural world. His work has taken him across the globe, capturing beautiful stories worth telling, from quiet monasteries to bustling cities, from mountain ranges to parish pews.

At the heart of it all is his family. Branden’s wife, Alea, and their four children are both his grounding force and his creative muse. Their presence infuses his work with warmth, sincerity, and a deep conviction that beauty isn’t just captured, it’s built, shared, and lived. Whether behind the camera, leading a team, or hiking with his family, Branden’s pursuit remains the same: to create work that endures, inspires, and reveals the sacred hidden in the ordinary.

The Man Behind the Lens

  • I am a filmmaker, director, and Catholic creative shaped by story, family, and faith.

I grew up in Indiana and later moved to Chicago, where filmmaking became not just a career but a vocation that has taken me across the world.

I’m a husband and a father of four, a storyteller who believes beauty speaks loudly, and someone who has spent more than a decade building a life around meaningful work. My roots keep me grounded. My craft keeps me moving forward.

  • My work is built on the belief that beauty has the power to reveal truth.
I lean toward images that feel honest, intentional, and quietly cinematic. I’ve always been drawn to analog tools - film cameras, old lenses, things that require patience - because they teach you to slow down and actually see.

Whether I am filming a simple moment or a large-scale production, I approach every story with reverence, clarity, and a desire to illuminate the dignity within it. Faith shapes my worldview, and that worldview shapes the way I frame a shot.

  • For more than a decade, I’ve traveled across the U.S. and beyond - filming documentaries, capturing stories of faith, and shaping projects that have reached millions. I have filmed in sacred spaces, mission fields, mountain ranges, monasteries, and quiet family homes.

My body of work includes personal projects, long-form documentaries, commercial pieces, parish films, travel films, and stories I created simply because they mattered. Each one reflects a chapter of my life, a place I’ve been, or a lesson learned along the way.

PERSONAL PRODUCTIONS // THE OUTPOST //

At sixteen, I picked up a camera for the first time, and everything looked different. Filming retreats, Masses, and family events taught me that meaningful stories often live in the most ordinary places - they just need someone to notice. That curiosity slowly turned into a lifelong calling to tell honest, beautiful stories through images.

At Ball State University, I studied film, marketing, and psychology - a mix that gave me a balance of craft, strategy, and understanding people. After graduating Cum Laude, I began collaborating with Blackstone Films, creating mission-driven projects that served communities around the country.

Before long, an entrepreneurial streak led me to launch an independent production company. I directed, filmed, edited, produced, and color graded - sometimes all in the same week. That hands-on season taught me versatility and resourcefulness, qualities that would shape every role that followed.

In 2016, after several years of working together, I joined Spirit Juice Studios full-time as the third team member. Within two weeks, I was leading a crew in the Holy Land, starting a stretch of documentary work that would change both my technical skill and spiritual perspective.

Since then, my work has taken me to more than sixteen countries and forty-two states - leading teams from small field crews to productions of thirty or more. As Creative Director and now Executive Vice President, my focus has expanded beyond filmmaking to include vision, culture, and operations. Spirit Juice has grown from a three-person shop into one of the largest Catholic production studios in the world, with nearly fifty full-time creatives and a wide network of collaborators.

Over that time, I’ve helped guide more than a thousand productions in documentary, commercial, narrative, and live formats - building systems that support excellence, encouraging artists, and helping every project reach its full potential.

Projects I’ve personally directed have earned more than a dozen regional Emmy Awards for storytelling and craft, and many have reached millions around the world. These films have featured some of the most respected voices in the Catholic Church and built lasting relationships with organizations like Word on Fire, Bishop Robert Barron, and the Knights of Columbus.

Along the way, documentary work has deepened my skills across directing, cinematography, editing, producing, and color grading. It’s also opened doors for mentorship - helping raise up new filmmakers and stronger creative teams.

Before life behind the camera, I spent years in theater and live performance, so being in front of the camera has always felt natural. I’ve spoken at March for Life events, Theology on Tap gatherings, men’s retreats, parish missions, and children’s catechesis. And on set, I’ll still step in front of the lens when a story calls for a personal touch.

At the center of it all is home. My wife, Alea, and our four children keep me grounded and remind me why I do this work. Whatever the project—whether filming overseas, directing a team, or capturing a quiet moment in nature - the goal is the same: to create images that honor truth, beauty, and the dignity of every person.
